The “Elefteria Studios” is situated in the heart of Skala Eresos in a quiet cul de sac with limited traffic noise. Open from May til September it is redecorated every year before the season starts and is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment programme which will be completed by the end of 2014. The new developments will see the expansion of the balconies on the first floor rooms as well as redecoration and instalment of new bathroom suites in most rooms.Skala Eresos is a fantastic traditional resort ideal for holiday makers of all types that enjoy the sun, clean beaches, fresh food and a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere by local people. Beyond Antissa you drive through a harsh landscape between mountains until you come to a huge green valley with a village at the top, Eressos. At the end of a long, narrow, straight road is Skala Eressos, a beach town with great restaurants, cafes, shops, outiques, bars, yoga, massage, Gestalt therapy, and many things you would not expect to find in a remote Greek island village. Skala Eresos is a small, scenic village of Lesvos with a long, beautiful beach with clean, clear and cool water. With its 3km long and sunny beach is one of the most beautiful villages in Greece and a true paradise for sun and sand lovers. There are many taverns serving traditional dishes and all kind of fresh fish as well as small bars and cafés. There are also small shops, mini markets, an open air cinema and a disco! Surfing, water-skiing, canoeing, water ring riding are only some of water sports also available. In antiquity Eressos was an important commercial center and was also home to the philosopher and botanist Theophrastus and the philosopher Phanias who was a pupil of Aristotle. It is also the place of the great poets Sapho and Alkaios who lived there and contradicted with their work in the Greek ancient civilization. There are still remains of the ancient city and walls and somewhere off the shore is the wreck of the Turkish warship Moving Mountain, sunk by Dimitris Papanikolis during the war for Greek Independence in 1821. The town is alive with cultural events and activity during the summer including the Woman’s Festival in early September. Skala Eresos is 98km away from the capital of Lesvos and it is 90 minutes drive. Skala Eressos is perhaps the coolest most counter-cultural place in the Mediterranean and one of the most beautiful beach towns as well. The village is a popular family destination, not to mention a favorite place for honeymooners and a popular beach destination for the islanders.
