KATSAKOULIS SA Olive Oil Export Company, was founded in 1863 on the island of Lesvos and is the oldest Greek company active in the olive oil sector.

From the beginning of its establishment, our company has had a strong export orientation, as the extra virgin olive oil of our island is highly valued abroad. So we gave priority to the preparation of the product in small packages, which are adapted to the needs of the consumer. The continuous investments of our company over time, demonstrate the use of modern technologies in the production and marketing of olive oil. At the same time we have been active organizationally in everything that has to do with the collection of olive oil, through the Chamber of Commerce of Lesvos and the Hellenic Association of Olive Oil Standardization Industries (SEVITEL).

The Kolovi variety, which grows exclusively in Lesvos, is the result of painstaking selection over the centuries to fit perfectly into the climate and soil of the island. The oil produced has the following characteristics:

Bright golden yellow color, due to the low chlorophyll content.
Intense aroma, due to the mountainous limestone soil.
Shiny texture due to the relatively high percentage of polyunsaturated lipids.
Its taste is a real pleasure for consumers, who discover in it one of the secrets of Mediterranean cuisine. For all these reasons, the European Community has officially recognized the virgin olive oil of Lesvos, as a product of "Protected Geographical Indication".

When the time comes to collect the fruits from the olive trees, the farmers pick the olives by hand, mainly with the help of relatives or friends, and then bring them to the mill. Centrifugal presses are modern, clean and efficient. The olives are pressed within 24 hours of harvest, each batch separately and at moderate temperatures (below 27 degrees Celsius). The oil is placed for storage in stainless steel tanks and depending on its quality. In our factory, olive oil is first of all carefully tested, both chemically and organoleptically. It is then allowed to settle before being filtered. We always strive to achieve a product with consistently optimal features, something that is known and appreciated by consumers. All procedures from a hygienic point of view are perfect, as we follow the instructions of the HACCP system, which determines all the necessary measures to make our products safe and of high quality. Our management system is certified according to the quality standards ISO 22000: 2005 and IFS Food V.6. We export worldwide to various countries such as Germany, Japan, Australia and Finland, but also to countries that are well acquainted with oil such as Italy, Spain and France. We always try and succeed in adapting to the conditions of each country, in order to satisfy the special needs of our customers. This is perhaps the secret of our longevity!
