The story of "Taverna Vafos" began with endless love for traditional family recipes. Thus, the thought of our grandmother's delicious dishes - all authentic recipes of old times - was lost in time, gave us the idea to create not only a typical traditional tavern but also a gastronomic destination. Thus, in 1987, Vafios, a small village in Lesvos, began to appear slowly on the gastronomic map until it became famous for its authentic traditional delicacies and "Oh, so well cooked!" local recipes!
In our family farm, surrounded by everything that is fresh and green, one can try the true tradition. Imagine this. You are relaxed, sitting in a colorful garden, your table is right under an old olive tree, the view of the Aegean Sea and the picturesque village of Molyvos decorates the horizon with the sun setting enchantingly in the sea. Truly, a unique atmosphere that no other place can emulate.
Our passion to offer you flavors from the past using only the freshest ingredients from our land is what pushed us to create a menu and an environment where you can enjoy delicious authentic flavors from Lesvos, whether you are a meat lover or a vegetarian . Giouzlemidis (traditional cheese pies), stuffed flowers zucchini, sougans (stuffed onions), chases, stuffed lamb in the oven, rooster cooked in wine, lamb with chickpeas, kitsets and many other wonderful dishes that you may not know but you will surely love. And this is a great reason to try something "new", a delicacy that actually comes from the past.
